Disaster is an unavoidable risk all businesses face, whether environmental, such as a fire, or purposeful, such as a threat actor stealing data. Having a disaster recovery plan set up, tested, and edited regularly is crucial for a business. Spending time creating, implementing, and testing a disaster recovery plan can save companies time, money, and legal issues in the future. 96% of all businesses have experienced at least one downtime incident in the last four years. In the case of ransomware attacks, companies experience an average of 3 weeks at costs of over $300,000 an hour for mid and large enterprises. (source)

Verizon’s 2023 data breach investigation report states that ransomware makes up 24% of all breaches and affects 66% of organizations (stats) Ransomware is most commonly associated with organized crime and rogue governments and can halt production instantly. Businesses paid out over one billion dollars in 2023 to recover data quickly.I have created a DRP example using a fictitious small healthcare group as an example. The mock DRP is for Fountain Valley medical group with 3 locations hosting several doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and office staff.
